Ushio launches new series of high-temperature 660 nm laser diodes
NEWS RELEASE: January 2021
Ushio has released a new single mode series of 660 nm laser diodes (LDs) featuring an increased high-temperature operation of up to 90°C. Providing optical output power of 100 mW (CW) / 200 mW (pulsed), HL65241DG / HL65242DG / HL65243DG will have an operating temperature range of -10°C to 90°C, making this series well-suited to sensing and biomedical applications.
Within the sensor market, 5G and IoT-related (Internet of Things) applications are currently experiencing rapid growth, bringing a steadily increasing demand for semiconductor and electronic components along with it. Due to the effects of the worldwide Coronavirus pandemic, manufacturers are investing in factory automation (FA) in an effort to improve their production efficiency, while the demand for FA sensors is also growing in logistics-related industries. In particular, photoelectric sensors with LDs are widely used as non-contact sensors to check for the existence and recognition of 2D and 3D objects.
Due to the increasing number of applications that require high-temperature operation and reliability, Ushio has worked to improve the temperature characteristics of its 660 nm LDs within the high-temperature range through the optimisation of crystal growth conditions. As such, Ushio has successfully improved on the previous maximum operating temperature by 15°C, thereby creating added value, increased reliability, and differentiation of equipment within the field of high-end sensors

Ushio laser diodes
All Ushio high performance laser diodes are available from the Optoelectronics Company. Please contact the Optoelectronics Company to request samples for testing.
Ushio’s laser diode collection offers wavelengths across UV (375–405 nm), red (630–690 nm), and NIR (705–852 nm), with prospective optical output powers from 5 mW to 3,500 mW. Our LD collection has low and high power lasers, with low-operating currents, long lifespans, and efficiency, all while remaining 100% RoHS-compliant.
Ushio’s Epitex division has grown into the largest collection of light emitting diodes on the market. Covering all violet, visible, and infrared wavelengths, from 365 nanometres (nm) to 1,750 nm, this vast catalogue creates a one-stop-shop for single and multi-wavelength LEDs.
